Harcros Chemicals Creates Endowment at Dalton State

10/11/19

Students majoring in chemistry at Dalton State will have more access to financial assistance thanks to an endowment created by Harcros Chemicals.

Harcros had already been providing funds for an annual scholarship but has now established the Chemistry Endowment Fund to sustain the annual scholarship.

“Dalton State alumnus, Logan Johnston, who works for Harcros assists us each year with the company’s gift,” said David Elrod, director of the Dalton State Foundation. “Logan was instrumental in gaining the company’s commitment to establish this new endowment fund. Harcros Chemicals sees the value in supporting Dalton State students, and the company benefits when we produce skilled graduates in chemistry and other STEM fields.”

More than half of students at Dalton State require need-based financial aid. Since Dalton State is already one of the most affordable colleges in the nation, gifts like those from Harcros have a major impact on students, Elrod said.
