WSOB to Host Second Annual Alumni Event at Basketball Game

02/03/20

The Wright School of Business will once again open its doors to former students and faculty for the second annual alumni networking event at a Dalton State basketball game.

The game will be Saturday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. at the Dalton Convention Center. The No. 6 ranked Roadrunners (21-1) will take on Martin Methodist College. Complimentary reserved seating is available to the first 50 alumni who RSVP. Additional reserved seats are available for family members and guests of alumni for $6 apiece.

Dalton State’s Wright School of Business (WSOB) is celebrating more than 20 years of offering bachelor’s degrees and invites all who attended classes to attend. The alumni event serves not only as a chance to reminisce and cheer on a winning team but also as a networking event, helping former and current students connect for internships, job opportunities or mentorships. Many past graduates are now business leaders looking for reliable employees and this event encourages them to hire current students, said Dr. Marilyn Helms, dean of the WSOB.

“Past students can serve as role models, mentors and sponsors for our current students,” she said.

The first bachelor’s degrees offered at Dalton State were launched through the Division of Business Administration in 1999. This has since evolved into the WSOB, which is AACSB accredited, a designation earned by less than 5% of business schools worldwide.

“The game is a great time for fun and fellowship, but also an opportunity to educate the alumni about our new services and opportunities,” Helms said. “This is a great way for alumni to learn about the recent expansion of the WSOB into Gignilliat Memorial Hall and ways they can be involved on campus.”

Today the WSOB offers six Bachelor of Business Administration degrees which include accounting, finance and applied economics, logistics and supply chain management, management, management information systems and marketing.
