Dalton State Receives Gift from Synovus

11/09/20

The Dalton State Foundation recently received a generous gift from Synovus Financial Corporation supporting areas such as undergraduate research and faculty development.

The gift is to the Wright School of Business Endowment Fund, which provides financial support to endeavors designed to improve the school and bring recognition to Dalton State.

Barry Blevins, senior vice president and market president-Gordon County for Synovus, recently presented the gift to Dalton State Foundation Director, David Elrod, and Dean of the Wright School of Business, Dr. Marilyn Helms.

The gift marks the latest contribution made by Synovus and its predecessor banks, whose history of supporting Dalton State extends back to the 1960s.

“The Dalton State Foundation is honored to be the beneficiaries of the bank’s philanthropy as it makes this investment in the Wright School of Business,” Elrod said. “The gift is ultimately a gift to the students at Dalton State that will help prepare them for the workforce for years to come.”

Blevins, an alumnus of Dalton State’s Wright School of Business, knows firsthand the kind of impact Dalton State can have on students.

“We are proud Barry has chosen to support his alma mater in this and many other ways,” Elrod said.
