Why did you choose Dalton State? I chose Dalton State initially to stay close to family for a little while longer and then transfer to a bigger school. After getting involved on campus, I fell in love with Dalton State. We have a beautiful campus and amazing faculty, staff and students. Being a student leader has allowed me to develop myself and form lifelong relationships with awesome people.
What does it mean to you to be part of the Roadrunner Nation? To me being a part of the Roadrunner Nation means giving back, forming relationships and helping others succeed. Roadrunners should have pride in the opportunities that are offered at Dalton State and the community. To me being involved and serving the greater Dalton area is what it means to be a part of the Roadrunner Nation.
What do you plan to do after graduation? I plan on attending medical school and becoming a neurosurgeon.
What activities are you involved in on campus? I am involved in Students Advocating for Volunteer Efforts (S.A.V.E.), Student Government Association (S.G.A.), Baptist Collegiate Ministries (B.C.M.), Omicron Delta Kappa (O.D.K) and Beta Chi Nu (B.X.N.).
What are some of your biggest achievements or accomplishments at Dalton State? Among my top achievements at Dalton State, are being involved in the previously names organizations and being named a Spence Higgins Hall of Leaders.
Where is your favorite study spot? The second floor of the library was my favorite spot until it closed. Now my car is the new spot.
What is your best memory so far as part of the Roadrunner Nation? My favorite memory was attending an Alternative Breaks trip to Apopka, Florida. We got to stay with undocumented citizens and were fully immersed into their culture and got to see the struggles they face on a daily basis. This was an eye-opening and very impactful trip, and it shaped my outlook of Dalton State and being a student leader.
Favorite comfort food? My favorite comfort food is spaghetti.
If you could only keep five possessions, what would they be? My Bible, car, phone, camera and my dog.
If you won the lottery, what would you do? I would donate most of it to local missions and then save the rest for medical school.
What is a skill you’d like to learn and why? I would like to learn how to juggle because it seems fun.
What cheers you up? Being around my mom and knowing that I am a child of God cheers me up and gives me the motivation to never give up.
What is your favorite book? “American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History”
Who is your hero? My hero is my mom. From childhood, she was always there for me. She went back to college in her 30s so that we would have a better life. Seeing this, I have no excuse no to thrive and do well in school and life. She has made me who I am today.
What is your favorite app? My favorite app is Instagram.
Where is your favorite place to eat? My favorite place to eat in Dalton is Alondra’s.
What did you want to be when you were a kid? When I was a kid, I wanted to be a police officer.
As a Roadrunner, what does it mean to Run Boldly? To Run Boldly means to consider others before yourself. It means to give back to Dalton State and the community in which we are located. It means to try your best to succeed because we have been given an opportunity that many people will never have. It means when you are struggling that you will have other faculty, staff and students that are willing to step in and help you out. And finally, it means that we are all one big family and we are all in this together to see each other succeed.
