Why did you choose Dalton State? Dalton State was an eye-catcher because of its affordable tuition, very few institutes around the world consider the pockets of students.
What does it mean to be a part of the roadrunner nation? I’ve come from a very neglectful childhood so it means everything being a part of the Roadrunner Nation. Here, all faculty and staff have aimed to further assist me into my career.
What do you plan to do after graduation? After graduation, I plan to attend Howard Universities Law School. I will become an attorney, preferably back home in Louisiana.
Who is your favorite professor and why? My favorite professor was my English composition advisor Ms. Meredith Andersen. It was her charisma that made her stand out. She puts so much effort into her subject for others to enjoy, and I really appreciated it.
What activities are you involved in? I am a S.A.V.E Leader (Students Advocating for Volunteer Efforts), and its goal is to promote active citizenship in many issues we fail to acknowledge today. It honestly has been one of the greatest things that’s happened to me. My first project was to volunteer at the Northwest Georgia Family Crisis Center, and it literally brought tears to my eyes to see how many people were involved in domestic violence. We, as a society, should take more action into serious issues like homelessness, health, social and political justice, as well as youth development. This semester I also became involved in LAE; the American Criminal Justice Association, and I can’t wait to experience the network at the regional and national conferences.
What are some of you biggest accomplishments at Dalton state? My greatest achievements here at Dalton State would be making the dean’s lists in both semesters of my freshman year. I plan to keep it up each year.
What are your favorite activities in and around Dalton? My favorite activities are held at the Recreation Center. I love working out and building my physical agility.
What is your favorite comfort food? My favorite comfort food is hot wings or butter pecan ice cream.
If you won the lottery what would you do? If I won the lottery I would invest in promoting non-profit foster care organizations to decrease the number of children placed in state care.
What is your guilty pleasure? One of my guilty pleasures would be sleep. I’m guilty for doing it more often than I should. I see it as recharging my fictional battery, but I’m pleased when I wake up.
What is a skill you’d love to know? A skill I’d love to learn would be basketball because I’m tall for no reason.
What is your favorite app? My favorite app is Episode and Uno & Friends. Anyone who has ever downloaded any of these games understands.
What do you feel most proud of? I feel most proud of beating the odds. A majority of my family is incarcerated, unemployed, with child, or deceased.
What cheers you up? Playing my violin cheers me up, smooth harmonics played in unison creates a satisfaction.
If you could go back in time who would you want to meet? I would want to meet Viola Davis A.K.A Annalise Keating before she made the TV series How to Get Away with Murder so I could have starred in it.
Where is your favorite place to eat? Olive Garden
What did you want to be as a kid? I wanted to be a Secretary of State for New Orleans but found my interests in becoming an attorney instead.
As a roadrunner what does it mean to run boldly? To run boldly reminds me of a quote by Norman Peale: “Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.”
