Why did you choose Dalton State? There are a multitude of reasons, but the most prominent were the affordability and closeness to home. These two things have paved the way for many more opportunities than I could have imagined.
What does it mean to you to be part of the Roadrunner Nation? It means being a part of a group of people all working together to reach vastly different goals. There is no shortage of creativity, passion, and determination in the minds of Dalton State students. Being a part of Roadrunner Nation is being a part of something extending beyond just one person, it is about community and connection.
What do you plan to do after graduation? I, hopefully, plan to pursue a career in travel and fashion journalism. I would like to go everywhere and do everything I possibly can.
Who is/was your favorite professor and why? Mr. Carty. Ever since I had his speech class freshman year (and now his French class), he has left a huge impact on my education. Beyond the fact that he is very well-versed and intelligent, he is very personable and truly seems to care about the success of his students.
What are some of your biggest achievements or accomplishments at Dalton State? Besides this and being accepted for the 2019 Paris study abroad trip, my biggest accomplishment is probably all the times I have found parking without having to park a mile away from where my classes are.
What are some of your favorite activities in and around Dalton? Anything having to do with hiking or just hanging out outside. Fort Mountain is one of my favorite spots somewhat close to Dalton. And, of course, Chattanooga has so many incredible places to hike, as well.
What is your best memory so far as part of the Roadrunner Nation? It has to do with an overwhelming sense of pride I got after finishing a speech my freshman year. I felt so accomplished.
What is the last book you read? Island by Aldous Huxley.
Favorite comfort food? Fruit! Any sort of fruit!
If you had a theme song, what would it be? Yikes. This is hard. Probably “Souvenir” by Orchestral Manoeuvres In the Dark. That song gets me so incredibly excited about life.
What is your guilty pleasure? I am truly a sucker for those chocolate-covered blueberry acai sweets. Those are absolutely delicious.
What is a skill you’d like to learn and why? I would like to be completely polylingual. I am currently working on this with French, but there are many more languages I think it would be useful to learn. I also would love to learn to master violin, piano, or guitar (I can play a little bit of guitar, but nowhere close to where I want to be).
What is your favorite book? Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury.
Who would play you in the movie version of your life? Hm. Probably Jenna Fischer (Pam on The Office). I feel we both hold a certain level of, well, awkwardness.
If you could go back in history, who would you like to meet? Audrey Hepburn.
Where is your favorite place to eat? Pieslingers Pizzeria. I’m a simple gal.
What did you want to be when you were a kid? Actress.
As a Roadrunner, what does it mean to Run Boldly? This question is a big one. To Run Boldly is to live a life that stands out. Take all that Dalton State has, and still does, offer, and use that for the rest of time. To Run Boldly is to step up and make a difference, to communicate and care about those around you, and to never forget where you come from.
