What courses do you teach? Intercultural Communication, Public Speaking, Human Communication 

How long have you been at Dalton State? 7 years 

Why did you choose Dalton State? I have always wanted to work in an institution, like Dalton State, that prioritizes good teaching practice and dedicated care of students. The most unique trait of our school is its focus on undergraduate teaching and research. Working at Dalton State exposes you to a diverse mix of faculty and staff who work proactively to ensure that our school is a special place to work. Brimming with enthusiasm, Dalton State has infectious school spirit.  

Did you always plan to teach at the college level? Why or why not? I did. I grew up in a family of educators. My mother and father are both retired college professors. Growing up I saw the joy and peace this profession brought to them.   

What do you like best about teaching at Dalton State? Dalton State College has small town charm with big city diversity. 

What are some of your favorite activities in and around Dalton? I’ve always enjoyed Dalton State Theatre program presented each semester. The variety of concerts on campus is also very enjoyable. 

If you could add any class to the curriculum at Dalton State what would it be? I would love to see Dalton State include a Communication in Conflict Management course.  

Favorite comfort food? Chocolate 

If you had a theme song, what would it be? "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor 

Favorite line from a movie? 

“Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens,  

Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens,

What do you feel most proud of? The adventure of coming to America alone, at age 21. 

If you could only keep five possessions, what would they be?Dental night guardlucky bamboo plant, Zojirushi water boiler, Thermosslippers 

If you won the lottery, what would you do? I’d like to start a scholarship for international students.   

What is a skill you’d like to learn and why? Play the acoustic drum set because I’ve always liked beat they create.

Who would play you in the movie version of your life? Julie Andrews (young version)
