Casino Gambling, Anti-Branding Explored in Business Newsletter

12/16/15

The impact of proposed legislation to legalize casino gambling is just one of several topics explored in the Fall 2015 issue of Business Analytics, a semi-annual publication from Dalton State’s Center for Economic Research and Entrepreneurship. The newsletter can be viewed at daltonstate.edu/cere by clicking on the Business Analytics link.

“We interview casino gambling expert, Dr. Doug Walker, to gain a better understanding of the issue,” said Dr. Brent Evans, assistant professor of economics and editor of the newsletter. “There has been quite a buzz around Georgia in regards to the proposed legalization of casino gambling. In this issue, we provide an eclectic mix of articles. Readers will also find information concerning anti-branding, honing recruitment and interviewing skills, and discussion of new tax laws.”

There is a brief article on the plans for an inland port in Murray County.

“This is an exciting time in Northwest Georgia as Gov. Deal recently announced plans for a vibrant inland port,” Evans said. “While readers will find some key details from this innovation in this edition, a more thorough discussion will be provided in the spring, which will include a myriad of ramifications of the project.”

Contributors are faculty in the School of Business, as well as alumni and current students. Each issue explores recent business trends in the Northwest Georgia region.
