Rock the Block with Dalton State

03/29/16

It’s Spring Fling at Dalton State College, and the community is invited to come and enjoy the Rock the Block Music Festival Saturday, April 9 at 2 p.m. It will be located on the quad behind the Burran Bell Tower.

“Everyone should come join us for a very relaxing, laid-back, music festival atmosphere,” said Shawna Ellis, director of the Campus Activities Board. “It should be a fun-filled event for the whole family.”

This event is sponsored by the Campus Activities Board and Residential Life, with participation from various student organizations on campus. In addition to club-sponsored activities, there will be inflatables, photo booths, and food trucks available, as well as carnival games for children, such as corn hole and twister.

The bands featured for the night are Rackit, Whiskey Dixie, and My Body Sings Electric. These bands will perform from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Rackit, a band from Dallas, covers songs from several genres of rock. Whiskey Dixie prides themselves as the real makers of “Southern Music,” and they originate from Calhoun. My Body Sings Electric, the headliner for the night, is a band that performs a variety of genres, such as indie, alternative, pop, and rock.

Admissions and all activities are free to the public. Food items are available for purchase. Those attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets or camping chairs.
