Dalton State Receives Gift from Cohutta Banking Company

The Cohutta Banking Company has made a gift to the Dalton State Foundation in support of student scholarships. 

“Cohutta Banking Company has been a longtime friend to Dalton State and our students,” said Dalton State Foundation Director, David Elrod. “This latest gift is one more manifestation of the bank’s support for our community as expressed through its interest in student success at Dalton State. And the fact that Dalton State alumnus Barry Blevins, who is a vice president at Cohutta Bank, was instrumental in securing this gift just makes it all the more meaningful. We are grateful to Barry and our friends at Cohutta Banking Company for this kind of philanthropy.”

The gift will sustain financial need-based scholarship awards for the 2017-2018 academic year and was announced at the Foundation’s recent scholarship day ceremony on campus.

“On a campus where more than two-thirds of our students seek need-based financial aid in order to attend classes at one of the most affordable colleges in the country, gifts like those from Cohutta Banking Company make an immediate and long-lasting impact on the institution and, more importantly, in the lives of our students who benefit from this kind of generosity,” Elrod said.
