SAP University Alliances Membership
The Wright School of Business became a member of the SAP University Alliances in 2016 to provide students hands-on experience with world-class enterprise systems to enhance their learning of business concepts. SAP is a market leader in enterprise application software with thousands of corporate customers worldwide. Many of our large regional employers run their businesses using SAP enterprise systems or similar platforms. The SAP University Alliances provides curriculum and access to full SAP systems that faculty worldwide integrate into their courses.
All students earning a BBA in Business Administration from the Wright School of Business have the opportunity to interact with the SAP S/4HANA system in three core courses.
- Principles of Accounting (ACCT 2101): Students use SAP S/4HANA to reinforce accounting cycle concepts by converting business transactions to the appropriate journal entries and reviewing the impact on an organization’s financial reporting.
- Principles of Supply Chain Management (LSCM 3251): Students examine product bills of material and routings as well as implement sales and production planning in SAP S/4HANA.
- Principles of Management Information Systems (MGIS 3351): In order to understand integrated business processes and enterprise systems, students individually interact with SAP S/4HANA in activities associated with forecasting, materials management, procurement, production and sales.
Beyond the core, the following upper-level courses provide deeper exposure to enterprise systems.
- Databases for Big Data and Analytics (MGIS 4360): The elective course exposes students to SAP HANA and other database platforms for modeling data needed for analytics. The course is taken by management information systems majors and students minoring in business analytics.
- Supply Chain Management Systems (MGIS 4580): Students explore enterprise systems more deeply, learning to execute a variety of business processes in SAP S/4HANA and perform system configuration to accommodate changing business needs. The course is required for all logistics and supply chain majors and elective for management information systems majors.
- Systems Analysis and Design (MGIS 4701): Students execute a procure-to-pay process in SAP S/4HANA as part of their exposure to business process analysis. They use the procure-to-pay process to investigate role-based access control and separation of duties, including examination of the system configuration of role-based access. Finally, they recommend and document potential automation options for procure-to-pay processes with SAP S/4HANA as the example system.
