GACE Paraprofessional Exam

Exam Description

The GACE® Paraprofessional (test code 177) assessment measures the skills and knowledge in reading, writing, and math possessed by prospective and practicing paraprofessionals. It also measures their ability to apply those skills and knowledge when assisting in classroom instruction.

Who is this exam for?

Paraprofessionals serving in an instructional capacity are required by law to:

  • hold at least an associate of arts degree, or
  • have completed two years of college coursework (60 semester hours), or
  • demonstrate through a state or local academic assessment that they are knowledgeable in reading, writing, and math and are capable of assisting in classroom instruction.

What items can I bring to the test?

Where do I pay the fees?

Dalton State charges a $35 proctor fee for this exam which can be paid when you schedule your appointment through our online registration or you can pay in the Business office with a check or cash, prior to coming to the Testing Center. Once you get to the Testing Center you will be required to purchase your assessment with a credit card through the GACE Paraprofessional site.
