Residential Meal Plan Terms and Conditions

Participation

Students living in Mashburn Hall must participate in the current required meal plan options. The Roadrunner Card, which serves as your meal card, is required for all transactions.

Meal Plan Payment

The student agrees to pay the College a per-semester dining payment in accordance with the terms and conditions. Meal Plans payments must be made prior to moving into the residence hall.

It is the sole responsibility of the student to ensure payments due are made to the Bursar’s Office, as required. If a student fails to make a payment, the College reserves the right in its sole and exclusive discretion to suspend or restrict the student’s Meal Plan and/or Roadrunner Card until payment is made. Suspension of a Meal Plan and/or Roadrunner Card does not relieve the student of his or her responsibility or liability. All dining charges will be posted to the student’s account and can be viewed via the Roadrunner Portal. Payments may be made online or through the Bursar’s Office.

Meal plan overview

  1. There is one required meal plan, the Roadrunner Meal Plan. All residents will be assigned this meal plan through the Dalton State Housing contract process. There is an optional Senior Meal Plan for students who have earned 90+ hours and are living in Mashburn Hall. Information and application for the senior meal plan can be found at: Senior Meal Plan Application
  2. Meal plans begin the official move-in day for residents and end the last day of exams. Meals cannot be carried into the next semester and are not refundable.
  3. There are three meal periods (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) per day, Monday through Friday. Weekend meals (brunch and dinner) are offered on Saturday and Sunday. The maximum number of meals per week is 19. With the required Roadrunner Meal Plan, students have access to a meal during each period.
  4. During each meal period you can use only one meal. Unused meals do not carry over from week to week.
  5. Meal plans offer AYCE (All-You-Care-to-Eat) dining for dinner Monday through Friday  and during brunch and dinner on Saturday and Sunday.
  6. Meal plan holders can choose their meal from the entire menu. During al la Carte periods, meals are an entree, a side, & a drink. During AYCE meal times, a meal is considered one entry to the dining facility.
  7. Meal plans are not transferable to others.
  8. Meals are not offered during certain breaks of the semester. Dining facilities will be closed for the thanksgiving break, winter break, spring break, and other College holidays. Dining hours are subject to change due to school holidays and exam schedules.

Carry-out Policy

When entering the facility, you must indicate you want your meal to-go to the server. The carry-out box must be fully closed when leaving (lid and base are not to be filled separately). A small carry-out fee of $0.25 will be assessed at check out for carry-out containers.

Meal Plan Exemptions

Under designated circumstances, meal plan exemptions are permitted for medical conditions or religious purposes. A medical conditions exemption may be granted if the student has a documented dietary requirement or medical disability, confirmed by a medical doctor, which cannot be met by Aladdin (dining vendor). A religious exemption may be granted if the student has a documented dietary requirement, confirmed by a recognized religious leader, which cannot be met by Aladdin (dining vendor). Refer to the Meal Plan Exemption Form for exemption procedures, guidelines, and required documentation.

A student may request a meal plan exemption under certain circumstances. Submitting a Meal Exemption Form does not mean that a student will be granted a exemption. The deadline for submission is two weeks prior to the first day of classes for the given semester. However, students have an obligation to pay for the meal plan until their exception is approved. The meal plan exemption form is available online on the Residential Meal Plan Page. The outcome of any exemption request will be provided via email to the student’s DSC email address. Requests received after the deadline will not be considered. If approved, a refund will be granted.

Refunds to residential meal plans

During the first four weeks after the official Residence Life move in date, a residential student excused from the Residential Meal Plan participation under the following conditions may be eligible for a pro-rated refund of the unused portion of their plan based upon the effective date of the withdrawal. Effective Date of Withdrawal is the date withdrawal paperwork is completed with Enrollment Services.

  1. The student withdraws from the College.
  2. The student is leaving the College as required by an academic program (e.g., student, teaching, study abroad, internship, etc.)
  3. The student is released from their housing contract and is eligible for a pro-rated refund.

After the first four weeks refunds of the unused portion of the meal plan will not be issued.

Dining hall policies

  1. Dining Hall Behavior: The community nature of a college dining hall is unique. Unlike any other eating situation, elements of both a home atmosphere and a restaurant dining environment are present. Students must respect the rights of, and cooperate with, other diners in maintaining a clean and pleasant environment. We ask your cooperation in keeping the dining hall atmosphere one that everyone can enjoy.
  2. Dining Hall Attire: Casual, comfortable attire may be worn at all regular meals served in College dining facilities. Shirts and shoes are required in the Dining Hall.
  3. No pets are permitted in any Dining Services location.

roadrunner card

Meal Plans and Roadrunner Cash are accessed with the Roadrunner Card and are subject to all of the policies and procedures of the Campus Services Office.

Students, faculty, and staff are responsible for their Roadrunner Card and all charges made to their accounts. If a card is lost or stolen, it must be immediately reported to the Campus Services Office or via the web at eAccounts. All transactions, including Meal Plan and Roadrunner Cash purchases made on a missing Roadrunner Card not reported as lost or stolen, are the responsibility of the student owning the card.

The Roadrunner Card is the property of Dalton State College and is not transferable. Unauthorized use of your Roadrunner Card, use by a party other than the person identified on the card, and/or tampering with or altering the card may result in confiscation of the card and possible disciplinary action against the student by the College.
