Dalton State Host Family-Friendly Fall Events

10/25/18

Dalton State will soon host its annual Fall Family Festival and an inaugural Day of the Dead celebration with family-friendly activities planned at both events.

The Fall Family Festival is planned for Tuesday, Oct. 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. on the quad. The Day of the Dead celebration is planned for Thursday, Nov. 1 from 5 to 8 p.m. Both are free and open to the community. They are hosted by the Campus Activities Board.

Student organizations will host games and activities during the Fall Family Festival. There will be inflatables and snacks.

Day of the Dead, or Dia de los Muertos, is traditionally a Mexican celebration that focuses on remembering loved ones who have died. It is believed it is a night when spirits can return to earth.

The event on campus will have stations for making papel picado (elaborate, decorative paper), painting sugar skulls, and contributing to an altar, as well as other activities and Mexican food.
