Biography
I am a Dalton native; and Dalton State has played important roles at various stages in my life. My parents both graduated from Dalton Junior College while my four brothers and I were students of the Dalton Public School System. I earned my Associate of Science in Nursing from "Dalton Junior College", and I have practiced primarily critical care nursing since 1984. More important to me, I met the love of my life, Jeff Richardson, on this very campus. Both of my children, Jeffery and Allie, began their college careers at Dalton State; and my husband and I have long been supporters of the Baptist Collegiate Ministries at Dalton State. We have also worked as community volunteers with students from Dalton State.
I am a proud promoter of the excellent, affordable, and character building education offered here at Dalton State. After starting here, I went on to complete my Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and Master of Science in Nursing at the University of West Georgia. Many of my required courses (chemistries, statistics, and speech) were conveniently completed as a Dalton State transient student. I am currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education at the University of West Georgia; and because of my Dalton State employment, the University System of Georgia is helping with the cost of continuing my education.
I have a calling to the art and science of nursing that has helped me love my profession for over thirty years. I have a passion for investing in the futures of young adults. It is here at Dalton State that my calling and my passion intersect. Dalton State has helped to lay a strong foundation for life-long learning for me and my family, as I pray it will for you.
