Dalton State’s Waugh to Participate in Leadership Georgia

Dalton State Athletic Director Derek Waugh was recently selected to participate in Leadership Georgia.

Leadership Georgia is a non-partisan organization that seeks to find and develop a geographically, occupationally, and ethnically diverse leadership across Georgia, without regard to political, social, religious, or ethnic backgrounds. It is an affiliate of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.

Approximately 60 participants are selected each year from several hundred applicants across the state. They will visit five communities to learn more about important issues affecting the state.

The program is one of the nation’s oldest and most successful leadership-training programs for young business, civic, and community leaders. The program aims to identify, train, and inspire a network of young leaders.

Waugh was named athletic director at Dalton State in 2012. He previously served as assistant athletic director and head basketball coach for Stetson University in DeLand, Fla.
