Free Admission to Be Given to Fans with Canned Food Donation

12/14/17

Fans of the Roadrunner basketball team can get free admission to the Jan. 6 game for helping a worthy cause.

The Birdfeeder food pantry at Dalton State is in need of donations of nonperishable items. The Birdfeeder serves students in need and is often struggling with donations by the end of the semester.

Donations will earn fans free admission. Season ticket holders can receive free popcorn with their donations. The game begins at 4 p.m. against Faulkner University at the Mashburn Arena in the Dalton Convention Center.

For every item donated Fast Turtle Tax will give $1, up to $500, to the pantry.

Items currently most needed by the Birdfeeder are breakfast pastries, microwaveable meals, canned meat, canned vegetables (not green beans), canned or dried beans, rice, pasta and sauce, and condiments.

The Birdfeeder does not receive any funds from Dalton State. It is completely donation-based. The food pantry was recognized in 2015 with the Chancellor’s Service Excellence Gold Service Award for Outstanding Student Improvement for helping students in need.
