Testing Center a Resource for the Community

03/13/19

People needing to take tests required for professional licensure or for graduate school no longer have to travel outside the Northwest Georgia area to take them.

Many of those tests, such as the Graduate Record Examination, are now offered at Dalton State’s testing center.

Recently the testing center expanded to become a facilitator for the GRE, as well as the Miller Analogies Test. Those interested in a health care field can also take the Test of Essential Academic Skills. In the education field, the testing center offers the Georgia Assessment for the Certification of Educators, as well as paraprofessional certifications and recertifications.

“We are National College Testing Center certified, so we can proctor any exam,” said Meagan Standridge, coordinator of the testing center. “If someone is taking online courses at another institution, but they need to have a midterm proctored, they can do that here. We are a resource, not just for our students, but also for the community.”

The center also offers industry licensure tests, such as ServSave and CompTIA.

Exams can be scheduled through the testing center portion of Dalton State’s website, www.daltonstate.edu. Under the admissions tab, choose testing center.

“All testers will need their ID, and some tests require two forms of ID,” Standridge said. “Sometimes testers need additional information. So always read the documents that are sent to you when you schedule an exam. They will tell you what to expect and what to bring, depending on which test you are taking.”
