11/12/19

Lights! Camera! Giant Plants?!

The Dalton State Department of Communication and Theater will perform the hit musical “Little Shop of Horrors” on Nov. 20-23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Goodroe Auditorium. General admission is $7. It is free to those with a Roadrunner ID. Purchase tickets in advance through eventbrite.com.

“Little Shop of Horrors,” by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, follows the tale of Seymour, the nerdy worker of a florist shop in a rough New York City neighborhood called Skid Row. Life is suddenly changed for Seymour and his coworker and love interest Audrey when Seymour discovers a strange plant with an even stranger appetite for human flesh.

Dr. Kim Correll, director and assistant professor of communications and theatre, is excited about the show and the opportunities it is offering for students.

“This cast is so amazingly talented” Correll said. “I would hate for anyone to miss it!”

The cast for this performance includes Jake Baker, playing Seymour; Inna Kouzniaeva playing Audrey; Levi Witt, playing Mr. Mushnik; Steven Green, playing Orin; Mackenzie Manning, playing Ronnette; Katie Lanning, playing Chiffon; Madison Hammons, playing Crystal; Nick Hickman, voicing Audrey II and Nick Loboda, puppeteering Audrey II.

Others involved include Adrian Thompson, musical director; Kate Mae Sponberger, choreographer; Kristen West, stage manager; Lauri Rapier, costume designer, Chad Daniel, set designer and crew members John Craig and Jaycia Dillon.

“This musical is close to my heart, and I am so proud of what this cast has been able to accomplish,” Correll said.
