Forty-fifth Annual Honors Convocation Recognizes Students

Dalton State wasn’t able to host an in-person Honors Convocation this year due to the pandemic, but honors students were still recognized and awards were sent through the mail.
Each year, the Georgia General Assembly Academic Recognition Award is given to one student from each of the University System of Georgia Board of Regents 31 institutions. The recipient must be a resident of Georgia undergraduate, with a GPA at or very close to 4.0 and represent the highest academic ideals of their institution.
This year’s recipient of the Dalton State Georgia General Assembly Academic Recognition was Nancy Avila de Welles, who graduated this semester with a bachelor’s degree in social work.
Professors in the four schools at Dalton State select students to receive the awards, which are based on GPA, performance and leadership, as well as support of their peers. The following awards were given:
