Dalton State welcomes new leadership

Dalton State College President John Fuchko, III, recently announced two new additions to the college’s administrative leadership team. David Lesicko was named vice president for fiscal affairs, and Kate Maine was named vice president for marketing, communications and workforce development.
Lesicko had served as interim vice president for fiscal affairs at Dalton State since August 2023 and was named to the role permanently effective Jan. 8.
“David is a valuable member of our administrative team, and I am confident he will continue to provide effective leadership that supports our work at Dalton State and service to our students,” said Fuchko.
Lesicko joined Dalton State in 2011 as the roadrunner card and business center manager after working in the private sector as a business analyst for Sterling Jewelers and as an internal auditor for Giant Eagle. During his tenure at Dalton State, he has served as the assistant bursar, director of campus services and the executive director of facilities and campus services. He also served simultaneously as the assistant vice president for fiscal affairs at Atlanta Metropolitan State College from 2019 to 2023.
Lesicko is originally from Youngstown, Ohio, and holds a BSBA in accounting from Youngstown State University and an MBA from Kennesaw State University.
Maine joined Dalton State Dec. 1 as vice president for marketing, communications and workforce development. This is a new position at the college that will be shared with Georgia Highlands College.
“Dr. Maine is an experienced higher education professional who understands the importance of Dalton State to our region, and I am very excited to have her join the college,” said Fuchko. “I know she will bring excellent leadership to many critical areas on our campus.”
Prior to joining Dalton State, she served at the University of North Georgia in a variety of roles, most recently as vice president of strategic communications and marketing. Maine’s experience spans more than 30 years in public relations and marketing in the corporate, non-profit, agency, government and education sectors.
Maine earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations from the University of Georgia, a master’s degree in higher education administration from Georgia Southern University, and a doctorate in higher education through UGA’s McBee Institute of Higher Education.
In addition to her involvement in several community organizations, Maine serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Education Advancement and Marketing and previously served as chair of the Advisory Council for Communications and Public Affairs of the American Association of State Colleges & Universities. In addition, she earned the 2016 Award of Excellence for Communications and Marketing from the Georgia Education Advancement Council.
