Wright School of Business to Host Alumni Event

01/22/19

Dalton State’s Wright School of Business is inviting all former students and faculty members back to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first bachelor’s degrees offered by the school.

The WSOB is hosting an alumni event at the Dalton State Roadrunners basketball game against Blue Mountain on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 2 p.m. at the Dalton Convention Center. Complimentary reserved seating is available to the first 50 alumni who RSVP. Additional reserved seats are available for family members and guests of alumni for $6 apiece.

“We’ll have pre-and post-game fun with former professors and alumni, as well as an in-game recognition,” said Dr. Marilyn Helms, dean of the WSOB. “This is an excellent time to celebrate our alumni. We are inviting current WSOB students to attend the game so they can network with alumni and faculty. This is a fun way to celebrate the growth and impact of Dalton State’s business program and the success of our faculty.”

Dalton State launched the first bachelor’s degrees in 1999 in what was then the Division of Business Administration, which later evolved into the WSOB.

“As Lamar Wright, namesake and benefactor of WSOB notes, ‘We are changing lives at Dalton State,’” Helms said. “We have alumni working in all facets and levels of business, government, industry, nonprofits and as entrepreneurs.”

The WSOB has grown to offer six bachelor of business administration degrees which include management, marketing, management information systems, finance and applied economics, and logistics and supply chain management.

Gignilliat Memorial Hall is currently under renovation and expansion to house the WSOB. A ribbon cutting is planned for later this year.
