10/20/23

The leaves across campus are changing from hues of green to golden yellow more and more every day. Fall has arrived, and Dalton State is gearing up for the Fall Family Festival.

Dalton State’s Campus Activities Board (CAB) will host its annual Fall Family Festival on Thursday, Oct. 26, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Pope Student Center Patio. The event is free and open to the public and will include a haunted house, face painting, petting zoo, balloon artist, games, candy stations, food tucks hayrides.

Fall Family Festival is a student-led event hosted by CAB in collaboration with Student Life to celebrate both the campus and local community. CAB is a student-run organization that strives to enhance the student experience through quality entertainment, creative programming and community involvement.

“This will be my second year planning the Fall Family Festival, and this is by far my favorite event we host,” said Cameron West, Dalton State student and CAB co-director. “Seeing the community, students and families show up is an incredible sight to see. Last year we had the pleasure of having 1,143 attendees for the event, and this year I want even more visitors!”

This is the first year Alex Sanchez, student life coordinator at Dalton State, is assisting with Fall Family Festival. Sanchez is the new CAB staff advisor, and said she is excited to be part of this year’s event.

“What I have heard from students and my fellow colleagues in previous years is this event has united the college campus with the greater Dalton community. My hope is this trajectory continues,” said Sanchez. “I truly feel like this event is illustrative of Dalton State’s mission. It focuses on promoting active leadership and collaboration among our students. It is only through the collaboration of our many different student organizations that this festival can be a positive contribution to our Dalton community.”
