Dalton State College invites the community to attend the Third Annual Economic Panel on Wednesday, Nov. 20, in Gignilliat Hall, beginning at noon. This year’s discussion will explore the intersection of supply chain management and national security. The event is free and includes lunch at 11:30 a.m.
“This event brings together industry leaders and national experts who will share invaluable insights on today’s most pressing challenges,” Robert Culp, associate professor of economics, said. “Attendees can expect high-caliber discussions, exploring the intersection of supply chain management and national security, led by a panel with deep expertise across fields from national defense to cutting-edge logistics strategies and economic analysis.”
Panelists are Ralph Boe, president of Arrow Star; John T. Gentry, Jr., assistant county manager of Glynn County and retired Brigadier General of the National Guard; Kevin O’Meara, executive vice president of Business Transformation at Shaw Industries, Inc.; Anthony Smith, independent economist and logistics consultant; Bert B. Tussing, director of Homeland Defense Security Issues and U.S. Army War College Center for Strategic Leadership.
Key topics will include:
- How the pandemic and geopolitical tensions impacted supply strategies.
- The vulnerability of U.S. supply chains to disruptions from foreign adversaries.
- Ways carpet manufacturers and other industries can better align their supply chain practices with national security interests.
- The role technology plays in mitigating supply chain risks and enhancing national security.
President John Fuchko and Dean Marilyn Helms will welcome attendees. Culp and Caleb Watkins, assistant professor of economics, will moderate the discussion.
