Drug Free School and Workplace

Dalton State College strongly supports the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988 and the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act of 1989, and consistently ensures compliance with them. As a recipient of federal funds, Dalton State College supports and complies with the provisions of the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act of 1989 and the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988.

The unlawful possession, manufacture, distribution, dispensation, and use of illicit drugs and alcohol by employees or students on DSC campus is prohibited, and violations of this policy will result in appropriate disciplinary action. If an employee is convicted (including a plea of nolo contendere) for violating any criminal drug law by an action in the workplace, the employee must notify the Human Resource Office in writing within 24 hours of the conviction. The possession or use (without valid medical or dental prescription), or sale of any narcotic or dangerous drug controlled by federal or Georgia law is prohibited. Exceptions to the policy of no alcohol on campus may from time to time be permitted at the discretion of the president.
