Dalton State College accounting program earns IMA endorsement

The Dalton State College C. Lamar and Ann Wright School of Business’ accounting program has earned endorsement by the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), one of the largest and most respected associations focused exclusively on advancing the management accounting profession.

The IMA Higher Education Endorsement Program recognizes accounting programs that meet high educational standards, enabling students to pursue and earn the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) credential.

“Endorsement by the Institute of Management Accountants underscores the strength and relevance of our BBA in accounting,” Dr. Sweta Sneha, dean of the Wright School of Business, said. “It affirms our commitment to academic excellence and ensures our students are exceptionally well prepared for successful careers in accounting, delivering meaningful impact from day one—benefiting both their professional growth and the organizations they serve.”

To qualify for endorsement by IMA, schools must substantially cover the CMA exam content, have adequate faculty resources to deliver the content, be accredited by a recognized accreditation organization, and designate a faculty member as an IMA Campus Advocate.

“IMA is pleased to welcome Dalton State College to the growing list of schools that support the CMA exam program and have achieved a consistent standard of excellence,” said Jackie Oppenheim, CAE, CPTD, IMA senior vice president, membership and community. “High-quality, up-to-date educational programs that support the current needs of businesses will help future professional management accountants accomplish their career objectives and meet the competency expectations of employers.”

The globally recognized CMA program is a relevant assessment of advanced accounting and financial management knowledge in areas such as financial planning, analysis, control and decision support–each of which is increasingly critical in meeting the changing needs of business and, therefore, essential learning for accounting and finance students.

Dalton State’s Wright School of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business and offers bachelor’s degree programs in accounting, finance and applied economics, marketing, management, and management information systems.
