Dalton State College expanded its annual Scholarship Day from one day to three this year due to growing philanthropic support and awarded $587,000 to nearly 300 students in April.
“Scholarships have been foundational to Dalton State since the earliest days of the College,” Dalton State President John Fuchko said. “The growth we have seen in scholarship support over the years reflects a sustained commitment to student achievement and access, made possible by the generosity of our donors.”
The new three-day format allowed the college to both recognize student success and express appreciation to the individuals and organizations whose support continues to make a difference for Dalton State students.
“Scholarships have been a central part of the Dalton State Foundation’s support for students throughout the College’s history,” David Elrod, vice president for institutional advancement, said. “When the Foundation was formed in 1967, one of its primary objectives was to provide scholarships for hard-working students. Over the decades, the Foundation’s annual investments in scholarships have grown significantly, increasing from a few hundred dollars in the early years to much larger amounts today.”
The Dalton State Foundation presented scholarships for the 2026–2027 academic year to students from two states, 31 Georgia counties and six foreign countries.
