Various eras of English literature: Medieval, Renaissance, Romantic, and Victorian; the supernatural in English literature; English history, religion, and culture.

Areas of Study: Faunistic studies of Lepidoptera of Georgia (and the southeastern U.S.), the Great Plains, and the northern neotropics; defense mechanisms of Lepidoptera against predators; pheromonal interactions of Lepidoptera. Rearing, collecting of Lepidoptera; description of new species of Lepidoptera. Insect behavior in general.
Research Interests with Students: Studies of the Lepidoptera fauna of the northwest Georgia area, particularly the Ridge and Valley region of Georgia.
