Dalton State College receives $4.9 million in state funds for campus infrastructure upgrades

Dalton State College has secured a $4.9 million state investment to support critical upgrades to campus infrastructure, thanks to the efforts of local members of the Georgia General Assembly who advocated for the project.

“This investment reflects a strong vote of confidence in Dalton State College, in the students we serve, and in our community’s future,” said Dalton State President John Fuchko. “We are deeply grateful to the Georgia General Assembly and our local delegation for recognizing the critical role that modern, well-supported facilities play in student success. This funding will enhance the campus experience and ensure Dalton State continues to serve as a vital resource for northwest Georgia.”

Approved during the 2026 legislative session, the funding will support infrastructure improvements to the college’s core utilities and water systems. The funds were finalized on Tuesday, May 12, when the governor signed the fiscal year 2027 state budget into law.

“Since being elected, fighting for investment at Dalton State has been a primary objective of my representation,” said Rep. Kasey Carpenter. “The success of our college is paramount for the workforce of tomorrow and the diversification of industry. The graduates of Dalton state remain in Northwest Georgia at record levels with very little student debt. That is a great proposition for our community.”

Dalton State College serves students across a broad multi-county region in northwest Georgia. Members of the Georgia General Assembly representing Dalton State’s service area include Rep. Matt Barton, Rep. Mike Cameron, Rep. Kasey Carpenter, Rep. Johnny Chastain, Rep. Matthew Gambill, Rep. Mitchell Horner, Rep. Rick Jasperse, Sen. Chuck Payne, Rep. Jason Ridley, Rep. Mitchell Scoggins and Rep. Steve Tarvin.

A member of the University System of Georgia, Dalton State College serves more than 5,500 students through a full range of bachelor’s degree programs, targeted associate degrees and career certificate programs.
