Smoke Free – Tobacco Free Workplace

In compliance with Board of Regents policy, Dalton State College’s campuses are smoke- and tobacco-free. All forms of tobacco products and electronic cigarettes are prohibited on property owned, leased, and controlled by Dalton State College and used by all employees, students, contractors, subcontractors, and visitors. This policy is applicable 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All events hosted by a USG-entity or on behalf of the USG shall be smoke and tobacco free. This includes all buildings, surrounding land, parking lots, green space, and adjacent sidewalk areas inclusive of the Mountain Campus and residential halls. Penalties for tobacco use are as follows:

Penalties for Students:

  • In the event of the first offense, the student violator will be fined $25.00.
  • Each additional offense will result in a $50.00 fine for the student.
  • After the third offense, the student will be subject to a mandatory Disciplinary Committee hearing.

Penalties for Faculty and Staff:

  • In the event of the first offense, the faculty/staff member will be fined $25.00.
  • Each additional offense will result in a $50.00 fine for the faculty/staff member.
  • The third offense and each offense thereafter will result in a report to the supervisor and to the Office of Human Resources. This may result in additional penalties and disciplinary action.

Visitors/guests may be asked to leave campus if they refuse to comply with campus policies including the smoke and tobacco free campus policy.
