The Generic Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program is designed for students who are not currently registered nurses and who desire to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and become eligible for Registered Nurse licensure. The program is appropriate for high school graduates, transfer students, and change-of-major students seeking a traditional baccalaureate nursing education.
The Generic BSN requires a minimum of 120 semester hours for graduation. Students complete 60 hours of Core Curriculum requirements before beginning the 60-hour Upper Division professional nursing sequence. All 60 hours of Core Curriculum must be completed prior to the start of the BSN program. Graduates who successfully complete all degree and program requirements are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) and, upon meeting applicable requirements, seek licensure as a Registered Nurse.
