Dalton State College presents classic comedy ‘Heaven Can Wait’

Posted on

Dalton State College presents Harry Segall’s timeless classic “Heaven Can Wait” in the Goodroe Auditorium on November 14, 15 and 20-22 at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee showing on November 16 at 2 p.m.

First performed in 1938, “Heaven Can Wait” tells the story of Joe Pendleton, a boxer mistakenly taken to heaven before his time. When the error is discovered, Joe is sent back to Earth but in someone else’s body.

“This show is a classic that offers a wonderful challenge for students to adopt mannerisms and see life in a different time period,” Kim Correll, director and assistant professor of theater, said. “I have a fantastic cast of students who have worked very hard. Designing the mansion living room set was so much fun. I hope everyone will come and support these students and enjoy this amazing play.”

The student cast includes Isaac Emmer, Lydia Hamilton, Alan Lopez, Ella Pattison, Ryan Reaves, Avery Splawn, Eli Shields, Deborah Thomas, Hannah Walker, Zach Williams, Taylor Wimpey and Levi Witt. Crew members include Laurie Raper, costume designer; Craig Raper, technical director; Elias Collins, stage manager; and Hunter Robbins lighting and sound design.

The performances are open to the community. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door or online at www.daltonstate.edu/theatre. Admission is free for Dalton State students, faculty and staff with a Roadrunner ID.
