Overview

New Student Orientation

We can't wait for you to begin your Dalton State journey! Your next step after being accepted is to register for Orientation! Orientation is required for all new students excluding transient and online students. On this day, you will register for classes for your first semester. You will also have the chance to hear from important departments and resources on campus ranging from academic support, student life, health and wellness, and  more!

Online Orientation Update:

Orientation for Summer and Fall 2020 students will be online. Students will still register for a scheduled Orientation date like normal. A few days before your registered date, you will receive an email with information on how to complete your Pre-Orientation checklist. This will include completing an online Orientation course prior to your session date. Then, on the date you have registered for, you will attend Virtual Orientation sessions, hosted via Zoom.

Please make sure you have internet access for your session date.

5 Things to know about your virtual orientation

  1. You’ll get to meet other new students in a small group setting! Your Zoom session will include the opportunity to get to know fellow new students who are joining the Roadrunner family with you this fall.

  2. Get to know some of our awesome Student Leaders on campus! You will have an Orientation Leader leading you throughout the Orientation process. Feel free to ask them questions about their Dalton State experience, favorite things about the campus, and more!

  3. Part of your virtual session will include a small group session with a Professor! During this session, they will give you tips for your first semester of college, what to expect in a college classroom, and answer any questions you may have.

  4. You will have a one-on-one session with your Academic Advisor to go over your fall class schedule!

  5. Parents and guests, you’re included in the excitement too! While the Zoom sessions will be geared specifically for our incoming students, we have a dedicated Guest module on the online Orientation course with information for you.

We can’t wait to get to know you better and welcome you to the Dalton State family at Orientation!
