Dalton State College values student organizations as important partners in creating an engaged and connected campus community. While organizations are recognized and supported by the College, they remain student-led groups and are not official departments of Dalton State College.
The relationship between Dalton State and student organizations is built on mutual respect, communication, responsibility, and trust. Both the College and student organizations share responsibility for creating a positive campus environment.
The Office of Student Engagement & Belonging supports student organizations by:
- Providing training, leadership development, and organizational resources
- Advocating for student organizations and serving as a campus resource
- Promoting involvement opportunities, events, and campus engagement
- Providing access to campus facilities, services, and approved use of the Dalton State name and logo in accordance with college policy
- Supporting student organization growth, involvement, and freedom of assembly
- Assisting with weekly event promotion such as Rage N’ Shine and support from Involvement Ambassadors
Student organizations are expected to:
- Maintain at least 10 actively enrolled Dalton State student members
- Transition and Re-register annually through the Office of Student Engagement & Belonging
- Comply with the Student Code of Conduct and any policies or expectations that govern Dalton State College and each organization as outlined within the Catalog and Student Handbook.
- Practice risk management to minimize liability to individuals, property, and maintain accountability for actions of the organizations.
- Maintain an active relationship with their faculty/staff advisor.
- Submit required forms and documentation on time.
- Respect the rights of others and contribute positively to the campus and surrounding community.
Organizations that fail to meet these expectations may risk losing their recognition status. Open communication, accountability, and good faith are essential to maintaining a successful partnership between Dalton State College and student organizations.
